George Turkette
My name is George Turkette from Fort Wayne, Indiana. I have been guitar teching for 2 years and touring for 4 years. I first started playing guitar when i was 14 years old, taking lessons weekly. My dad bought me my first guitar, a Fender Stratocaster. Then one day my dad came home with a Les Paul Standard Plus. After half a year I put down the guitar until I started touring, when I was 17.
The first small club tour I did was the MTVu Summer Tour with Boys Like Girls, NeverShoutNever, and The Ready Set. 6 Months later the band did its first bus tour. In February of 2011 I guitar teched for The Ready Sets first headlining tour. The tour played sold out clubs in a full US tour. In April of 2010 I switched to Stage Manage for The Downtown Fiction on their first headlining two week East Coast tour. The next month I switched to my most recent gig, Allstar Weekend.
In May of 2011 I did a two week Canadian Tour with Allstar Weekend and after that we flew to Hawaii and played a show there. After many fly dates, we started the We Own The Night Tour with Selena Gomez & The Scene. This was two month tour across the US selling out amphitheaters, theaters, and small arenas.

My name is Larry Melero. i'm a freelance touring Instrument/Amplifier Technician. I've been touring for 17 years. I have been playing guitar for 32 years. My current client is George Benson. Previous clients include: SUM41, Incubus, Gwen Stefani (solo tours), and many more.
Being able to cover everything from strings to speakers has always been a benchmark for me. I pride myself on being able to perform any repair, from a pickup swap to repairing and/or modifying a tube amplifier. Since i also play guitar, i can offer the artist advice on their gear so they can achieve any tone they're looking for. I've also been fortunate enough to "pinch play" for guitarists and bassists when they've been unable to play due to injury or other situations.
I feel that this level of work allows the artist to concentrate on their playing and the show without giving a single thought to: "is my rig going to work? is it going to sound good? will my guitar be in tune? etc. etc.

George Benson's Ibanez GB10 is strung up with D'Addario Chromes(flatwound)strings (13-56) in standard tuning. It also has a 1/2 brass-1/2 bone nut and a floating rosewood bridge. He plays that 1 guitar for the whole show. I've put in on my tuner at the end of the night just to check the tuning. It's always spot on after a 2 hour set. Big Bends nut sauce plays a part in that.
