Hunter McCollum
Born in Dallas, Texas, Hunter Hendrickson is a 19-year old dynamic and emerging blues rock musician. Hunter?'s artistic and compelling intensity has led audiences to him that demand encores at notable venues across the Dallas/Fort Worth music scene including The Kessler Theater and House of Blues, Dallas. Sharing the stage with such musicians as Robin Trower, Ian Moore, Lucky Peterson and many more. An artist far beyond his years, he is among the youngest endorsees of Two-Rock Amplification and Lock-It Guitar Straps.
As a phenomenal young guitar player, Hunter lives the music and delivers it straight from the heart revealing his purist style. His strong improvisational abilities and solid musicianship is what would be expected of an older more seasoned instrumentalist, along with his rare and profound stage presence. Hunter received his first guitar as a gift from his parents at age 8 and was immediately captivated by the sound of Stevie Ray Vaughan's "Lenny". Through his playing it becomes evident he has a deep affection for many genres as well as an understanding of music history, especially in the eras and genres of American music such as blues and jazz.
Hendrickson's first work, an EP titled "Behind the Notes", was released September 2009 at the House Of Blues in Dallas. Dallas Music Critic Mario Tarradell featured Hunter in the Dallas Morning News Guide ? Texas Music Spotlight? giving a thumbs up to the EP and says "The EP includes his originals all of which mix rock immediacy with blues passion" "He's definitely a local artist to watch". The original compositions on this EP are a preview of his raw undeniable talent. The producer of Behind the Notes, New Bohemian guitarist Kenny Withrow, is a close mentor of the young guitar player. Hunter is without question a gifted guitarist, but this work truly sheds light on his original and painfully honest songwriting.
